Our round tailsprings are machined out of heat treated 17-4 stainless steel. The small end is 5/8 inches for 2 1/2 inches, it tapers up approximately 1 inches to 7/8", or 3/4" at the fuselage end. They are 24" long for more flexibility for the homebuilder. The extra length is at the fuselage end and can be cut to desired length using a chop saw. Our heavy duty tailspring is 1" at the fuselage, tapers to 3/4" at the tailwheel, the aluminum attach block on our tailwheel assembly must be bored out to 3/4". These tailsprings are not drilled.
We recommend that you attach them to the fuselage, then install the tailwheel assembly, assuring the upright of the tailwheel is vertical for optimum ground handling.
